“I see a revolution in the attitudes of everyday Americans. For the first time a majority, 53%, favor its legalization, with 77% supporting it for medical purposes.”
Dr. Sanjay Gupta once again put medical marijuana under the microscope with “Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution”, a CNN Original Series exploring the business of legal, recreational cannabis. This time featuring Dr. Sue Sisley, director of medicinal plant research at Heliospectra, and her federal approved clinical study for medical marijuana on PTSD.
The first “Weed” documentary with Dr Sanjay Gupta aired on television in August 2013, following a yearlong investigation. At that time the topic was sensitive and as Dr Sanjay Gupta described it “Hardly any government officials would agree to sit down and be interviewed on the topic. Even patients I spoke to were reluctant to share their stories… I didn’t know if anyone would watch our yearlong investigation. Even worse, I didn’t even know if they would care.”
No two years later with what could almost be described as a marijuana gold rush in the States this has all changed.
“Just two years later, in “Weed 3,” we are eyewitnesses to a revolution in full swing.” “I see signs of a revolution everywhere. I see it in the op-ed pages of the newspapers, and on the state ballots in nearly half the country. I see it in politicians who once preferred to play it safe with this explosive issue but are now willing to stake their political futures on it. I see the revolution in the eyes of sterling scientists, previously reluctant to dip a toe into this heavily stigmatized world, who are diving in head first. I see it in the new surgeon general who cites data showing just how helpful it can be.
The third documentary feature among others Dr Sue Sisley and Rick Doblin’s struggle getting the first federally approved clinical study on the use of marijuana for PTSDapproved. Dr. Sue Sisley, recently appointed director of medicinal plant research at Heliospectra, are well known for her work on medicinal cannabis as an effective treatment option for veterans suffering from chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
